Ann Balasubramaniam is a Senior Analyst with the Northern Data & Statistics (NDS) team in the Center for Social Insights and Innovation at Statistics Canada. Ann works with her team to improve delivery of timely insights to the North by coordinating across sectors to understand Northern data priorities and aligning emerging needs with internal programming. In her role Ann works with northern communities, Indigenous governance organizations, Territorial and Federal government organizations, academia and internal project teams to foster coordination and support identification of efficiencies in data collection, analyses and data mobilization. Ann has spent the last 5 years working on northern files for the Government of Canada and has a passion for collaborating with northerners towards improved knowledge outcomes. Prior to working for Statistics Canada, Ann worked for Polar Knowledge Canada, leading organizational engagement to develop national science programming. Ann holds a doctorate degree in Arctic Science from the University of Waterloo, and a BSc from the University of Guelph.
